The mission of the North Dakota Chapter of the Wildlife Society is to provide a forum for discussion of ecological issues among natural resource professionals; to enable its membership to pursue conservation of natural resources; and to inform the public on ecologically wise uses or natural resources in support of a conservation ethic.

Congratulations to Allyn Sapa (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, retired), winner of the prestigious North Dakota Award for 1010! Before and after retirement, Al has worked tirelessly on wildlife and habitat issues, from the Missouri River, to grasslands, rivers, streams, and woodlands in North Dakota.
Jim Alfonso (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, retired), won the Habitat Award. Jim worked to protect over 160,000 acres of temporary and seasonal wetlands in North Dakota.
Pat Lothspeich and Bill Schaller (ND Game and Fish Department) won the Charles V. Pulver Case of the Year Award for cracking the “Thrill-kill” case involving the illegal shooting of many pronghorns and deer.
Ann Pollert (North Dakota Community Action Partnership) won a special recognition award for her work in the Sportsman Against Hunger program.
Brian Kietzman is the new President-Elect. He will serve as president starting in 2011.
Brian works for ND Game and Fish Department in Jamestown, where he is the Wildlife Resource Manager Supervisor.

Jeremy Guinn, Sitting Bull College, won the 2009 Diversity Award at the annual conference of the national TWS. The award honors innovative programs and individuals that promote diversity in employment, academic enrollment, and membership.
Mike Johnson, North Dakota Game and Fish Department, won the 2009 Professional of the Year Award from the Central Mountains and Plains Section of TWS.
