The VATWS is obligated to convene an Annual Chapter Meeting in January/February of each calendar year. Depending upon need, opportunity, or demand, the Chapter also may hold a less formal Summer Chapter Meeting, a Professional Development Workshop, or both in the late summer or fall.
The Executive Committee is working on the plans for the 2010 Winter meeting as we speak. Details will be available on, or around, September 1, 2009. We are looking into the possibility of holding a professional development workshop in conjunction with this meeting as well.
We are trying to assess the real impacts that agency budget shortfalls and travel restrictions may have on attendance, and thus the ultimate success and usefulness, of these meetings. To that end, the Planning Committee would appreciate if members would please provide their best assessment of their current administrative situation using the poll provided at the left; we will use that information to guide our decision making. Our concern is that we will plan events and commit speakers, but a reduced attendance will preclude us from reaching the minimum necessary attendance to cover expenses. Any additional information you are willing to provide would be helpful. Please contact Jim Parkhurst or Scott Klopfer for additional information. Thank you!
