Welcome to the Central Mountains and Plains Section
The Central Mountains and Plains Section of The Wildlife Society comprises the US states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. Prior to the formation of the Canadian Section, CMPS included the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
This is a follow-up email request to one you received late last year regarding a request for volunteers to serve as peer-reviewers for abstracts of contributed papers and posters. The response has been fantastic. We can't thank those of you who volunteered enough. However, we still need 30-40 more peer-reviewers. The peer-reviewers are integral to upholding the scientific quality of the contributed paper and poster sessions.
The call for contributed papers and poster is now being circulated. Below is the link.
The abstracts for these papers and posters are due March 19, 2010.
We will need the assistance of over 100 peer-reviewers to read and evaluate the abstracts. Each abstract will need 3 peer-reviewers. Thus each peer-reviewer may be called on to review up to 20 abstracts. Based on past experience this may take 1-2 hours. The bulk of this work will be done in late March to early April 2010.
After review, the peer-reviewers will make a recommendation to the program committee to accept, reject or in the case of a paper have the author consider moving the paper to a poster session.
I am in the process of establishing list of peer-reviewers. I am asking your consideration in volunteering for this important service. To volunteer, just send me an e-mail with your contact information and any particular areas of expertise you may want to receive abstracts for. I will acknowledge your e-mail and send you more details in early February.
